The past few weeks I have had to unlearn some bad habits, as I am no longer just in charge of my own content. Planning ahead and scheduling content is going to be your saviour. I have learnt the hard way that planning ahead is the key to working smarter and not harder.
In order to stay consistent with the content you produce, you should always plan ahead. There are a few things I have found to be beneficial to my content creating process, that I will be sharing with you.
Content Creating Process
There are a few things I have found to help with the planning process. Recently I have allowed myself to write down every idea that pops into my head. Before you start questioning if it is a good idea or not, write it down, draft it. If you try and restrict yourself, it makes it difficult to truly express yourself. Allow yourself to just explore those ideas before you decide whether or not to hit publish.
BrainStorm / Brain Dump
Any idea you think of, write it down and a few sentences to get it started.
Break down all of your categories and the areas you cover with your content, with those categories explore all the ideas that come to mind, it doesn’t hurt to write down the first word that comes to mind when you think ‘Lifestyle‘.
It is not only freeing to give yourself the space to explore every idea that comes to you, it also is an affirmation in its self. By removing the restrictions, you’re telling yourself all of your ideas are valued.
I always ask my readers what they want to see more or less of, they will be the ones reading it so it is important they get something out of my blog. As much as this is a space for self expression, you now have a community, whether it is 10 or 10,000 knowing what works for you and your readers is key to growth and future planning. If you know what works you can always plan more around the content you have already created. Use what your readers want to see more of to create intentional content.
I explained on the Tag Me In Podcast that I go back and forth with my blog posts and write them all at the same time. I go back and forth between a few blog posts at one time, until they are finished. If like myself you’re constantly thinking of something, you may find it difficult to focus on one thing at a time. By going back and forth between a few blog posts I am able to keep my brain busy and free from distraction.
Everyone always recommends batch working, instead of doing things as they come and one at a time, do a few things at one time; plan on Thursday, write on Friday and take your images on Saturday.
Getting Stuff Done
The planning is relatively easy, it is the doing that can be tricky. I have found that focusing on one day at a time has helped me stay focused and get more done in my day. As well as making a to-do list, I write down the plan for the day.

Remember you should always be realistic with your time and what you can commit to. Be honest with yourself, if something isn’t working for you or you find yourself getting overwhelmed, take a step back to reflect on what changes need to be made.
