When the whole subscription box hype came about, I won’t lie I wasn’t very interested. The ones I had seen people unboxing didn’t really appeal to me. I saw a lot of products both me and my bank account would agree I couldn’t justify purchasing.
I am quite picky with what I put on my face, however when it comes to my hair I am more inclined to try something new.
Then I started to see several subscription boxes both created by black women, and some specifically created for women of colour. That’s when I started to gain an interested into the subscription box hype.
“The Voice newspaper reported that the SPENDING power of Britain’s black community was worth an estimated £300 billion and a recent mintal report stated that our global spend is predicted to be 1.7 trillion by the end of the 2017 financial year” – Kam, Founder of Nylah sharing some knowledge on the black communities spending power within the beauty industry.
The UK’s first beauty and lifestyle subscription box for women of colour. This box contains a range of products from the My Ebony Box shop as well as some great brands like: Sleek, The Soap Connoisseur, Yogi Tea, Gro Healthy, Bea Skin Care and Dorcas Creates, just to name a few.
A box filled with goodies “helping you to empower, uplift and enrich your mind, body and soul“.
A self – soothing monthly subscription box for those who experience mental health difficulties.
The theme of self love runs through their instagram page, with positive quotes and imagery. A great theme for a subscription box service. I’ll definitely be watching to see what they will be including in their boxes in the future.
Celebrating black womanhood one beautifully curated treat box at a time. This box was also created to fit in most letterboxes, meaning you don’t have to be in to receive your box of treats.
Came across this box at the Black British Bloggers Social and loved the concept. Each month has a theme and all of the products featured all tie into the theme. One of the themes I liked was their sleep theme. A lavender scented eye mask and a ‘Black Girl Magic’ bookmark, plus a few other soothing treats was included in their March box.
