UK Black Owned Subscription Boxes

When the whole subscription box hype came about, I won’t lie I wasn’t very interested. The ones I had seen people unboxing didn’t really appeal to me. I saw a lot of products both me and my bank account would agree I couldn’t justify purchasing.

I am quite picky with what I put on my face, however when it comes to my hair I am more inclined to try something new.

Afro-Caribbean women reported to spend six times more than other ethnicities Think Ethnic

Then I started to see several subscription boxes both created by black women, and some specifically created for women of colour. That’s when I started to gain an interested into the subscription box hype.

The Voice newspaper reported that the  SPENDING power of Britain’s black community was worth an estimated £300 billion and a recent mintal report  stated that our global spend is predicted to be 1.7 trillion by the end of the 2017 financial year”Kam, Founder of Nylah sharing some knowledge on the black communities spending power within the beauty industry.

Good To Me

A self – soothing monthly subscription box for those who experience mental health difficulties.

The theme of self love runs through their instagram page, with positive quotes and imagery. A great theme for a subscription box service. I’ll definitely be watching  to see what they will be including in their boxes in the future.

Hue Boxx

Celebrating black womanhood one beautifully curated treat box at a time. This box was also created to fit in most letterboxes, meaning you don’t have to be in to receive your box of treats.

Came across this box at the Black British Bloggers Social and loved the concept. Each month has a theme and all of the products featured all tie into the theme. One of the themes I liked was their sleep theme. A lavender scented eye mask and a ‘Black Girl Magic’ bookmark, plus a few other soothing treats was included in their March box.

My Luxe Beauty stock a great selection of brands, so I am really looking forward to trying this box – Keep your eyes out for a review.

Curlee Box – Every month we will send you 4 – 6 quality hair care products. Curlee Box’s brands range from well-known, prestigious product lines to small independent brands.

Starting with the Founder’s Box, the theme will change monthly. Healthy Hair Routine, Growth, Spring Steps & Clean Ingredients are just a few upcoming themes.

These are the subscription box services I am aware of, so do share the ones I haven’t mentioned. I can’t wait to see what other themed subscription boxes launch in the new year. I would be really interested to see some black men create subscription boxes for their needs as well – Find out what I thought about their first Curlee Box here.
